Shime-waza

Shime-waza  (Strangle)

On the mat, legal Shime-waza (strangle) can be used in certain age groups.  Typically, ages 13 years and above are allowed to use Shime-waza in their matches.  Consult the specific tournament rules for clarification.

Ippon is awarded when contestants are on the mat and one submits from an effective strangle (Shime-waza)
