USJF Self Defense Instructor Re-Certification Registration
Training consists of a two-part process. First, completion of the required online learning modules related to the USJF Basic Self Defense Training Course. For the second step, attendance and completion of a USJF certification workshop where Self Defense Committee representatives can evaluate your proficiency as well as address any questions participants may have about teaching USJF Basic Self Defense as a Trainer, Teacher, or Assistant Teacher.
Once the participant has successfully completed the e-learning and workshop, a certification is issued for 2 years. At the end of that time, for those seeking renewal, a renewal application needs to be completed along with your record of required Continuing Education Unit (CEU’s), and submit the document to the designated Self Defense Committee Certification Coordinator. Trainers will be required to complete an in person course every 4 years.
SELF DEFENSE RE-CERTIFICATION
If your recertification is due, or you have allowed your recertification to lapse no longer than 1 year, you are able to apply for your Self Defense Re-certification if you meet the following criteria:
- Submit four approved Continuing Education Units.
- Applicants must ensure that their current certifications are uploaded in the USJF online portal including: Current USJF Membership; Current USJF Background Check; Current SafeSport Certificate from the US Center for SafeSport; current CDC Heads Up Certificate; and a First Aid and CPR certificate.
- For trainers who have not taken a USJF Self Defense Training Workshop, register for a live re-certification workshop.
