The amount of rest between exercises will depend primarily on the sport that is being prepared for. Judo activities requiring explosive power, such as speed uchikomi or nagekomi drills require longer rests (from two to three minutes) to keep the muscles from fatiguing.
Judo drills requiring endurance and power should be trained with shorter rest periods (60 to 90 seconds) to train the muscles for more endurance while strengthening. Training primarily for endurance, such as in preparation for multiple contest rounds would require still shorter periods of rest, from 15 to 60 seconds, between resistance training exercise while using less resistance with more repetitions.
