Osaekomi

Osaekomi

The objective is to control your opponent.

Osaekomi is announced when the disadvantaged contestant (Uke);

  • Is being controlled with downward pressure from the side, rear or top
  • Has full back or complete upper back in contact with the mat
  • Does not have Tori’s leg interlocked.

If Tori has already earned a Wazari in the match and the Osaekomi is held for 15 seconds, Tori earns a second Wazari and the Referee announces “Wazari Awasete Ippon” (two Wazari equal Ippon) and the match is over.

If Tori has not already earned a Wazari in the match and the Osaekomi is held for 15-19 seconds, Tori earns and Wazari for the hold down and the match continues.

If Tori has not already earned a Wazari in the match and the Osaekomi is held for 20 seconds, Tori earns and Ippon and the Referee announces “Ippon Sore-made” (Ippon, finished) and the match is over.
